Our History

Formerly known as the Idaho Learning Center, Joshua Institute began as a small homeschool co-op in Nampa, Idaho in 2008. Parents of students diagnosed with learning disabilities (such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and ADHD) were dedicated to providing a high quality education for their children. However, it was obvious that a different, more thorough approach to learning was needed for these smart and capable students.

These students began working with an Educational Therapist trained to use tools proven to help remediate learning disabilities from the National Institute of Learning Development (NILD). Receiving just two 80-minute sessions of intervention each week, the results were outstanding. Families soon began to see how this specialized approach to education was creating change in their students, such as an increase in academic performance, developed capabilities, and a significant boost in confidence.

Not long after, we saw the vast need for a larger, more established family-friendly program that made a difference in the lives of struggling students through daily education. What if the tools gained through educational therapy could also be used throughout the school day for greater impact on student learning? The Joshua Institute Academy was launched as one of our Services, and JI quickly outgrew its location in Nampa. We are now located in Meridian, Idaho in order to provide more accessibility to families throughout the Treasure Valley.

JI’s mission has always been to help students with learning disabilities become successful in the learning journey. Our non-traditional approach to education could be just what your student needs. We would love to meet you to discuss whether your student would thrive in the non-traditional educational environment at our Academy, or if our Educational Services in addition to the current school your student attends can provide life-changing intervention.
